Lumphini Park
The following is a visual documentation that interprets my local perspective on one of Bangkok's largest city parks, Lumphini Park. Honesty though as far back as I could remember, I think this was my first time to ever visiting this park. Before the decision to visit this place, I was quite inspired by the work of an Australian artist Nathan Larkin who creates a brilliant photographic series of Lumphini Park, from a foreign perspective.
As a first-time visitor, I suspiciously felt like there are more things that go on at this park than meets the eyes—judging from all the leftover mundane found scattered all around. Paying less attentions to the landscape, I could notice the tents, abandoned umbrella shelters and many styles of seating arrangements. People definitely gather here for something else other than to run, jog or cycle—even the fortune teller pop-up stalls were there. If these were the kind of urban park creatures, it would be the kinds that make Lumphini the park it is today.
